a nightmare. etched in me forever
it's like one of those essays u used to write in pri. schs or even sec. schs.. titles like: a terrible mistake, a theft, a lesson learnt.. blahs
"tht guy's followin us! hurry up!"
and she quickened her steps down the escalator but was blocked by a father and son. her fren could only look on helplessly, stunned in her tracks.
"sorry miss, i saw u takin a bangle into the changing room but i didn see u takin it out. is it with u?"
"no! i left it on one of the clothes rack."
"can u show me?"
he led the way to the shop and stopped abruptly at the entrance, pointing to her bags.
"tell me, did u take the bangle?"
"NO! i left it..."
"u sure u didn take the bangle?" he stared at her with a pair of threatening and piercing eyes.
"yes.." came a soft mutter.
as he once again led the way into the shop, into the office, her heart started pounding furiously, her feet grew heavier with each step she took and her hands shivering. she prayed for an escape route as she sees flashes of the police station, her mum, dad, sis and bro. wild ideas crossed her mind.. flingin the paper bag out, droppin the paper bag on the floor or simply just beggin for mercy later. 6 steps away, she reached into the paperbag, retrieved the bracelet and chucked it on one of the clothes rack. and at the same time, prayin really hard he had not seen the bangle and it wld not drop on the floor with a loud thud. fortunately, none of it happened.
in the room, "show me wad's in the bags." she obediently (of cos!) poured out everything in the paper bag and the shoulder bag.
"where are these from?" he demanded.
"these (the tops) are frm zara and this (the earrin) is frm topshop. u can search my body if u wan!"
he led her out of the room and once again asked her to show him where she had placed the bangle. she simply pointed a random clothes rack and said innocently "one of ur stuff cld have taken it back."
with nth else to ask fer, he let her go.
a lesson learnt, the hard way. it cld be worse.
